IAN ROWLANDS

Journalist, wildlife & wilderness guide, festival director, environmental activist, presenter, podcaster, writer; I am, or have been, all of these.

Fascinated by human culture and stirred by art and literature, I've tracked bears, birds and blue whales from the Arctic to the Antarctic, and from Asia to the Amazon; always with a passion for spirit, shamanism and communication, and for the ways we reconnect ourselves to our roots in Nature.

... it's all about wild soul

Wild Soul?

Today’s frantic world affects our health and wellbeing; I know it, you know it, science knows it,

but research shows Nature can make a world of difference to our health and happiness.

Yes, Nature keeps our world turning, but more is definitely going on because studies are

revealing striking links to mind, spirituality and consciousness too.

Despite all the demands the modern world makes of us, we and the living world are

connected, inseparable, mysterious; just as our ancestors always told us.

And they showed that, when we step into that outside world - into Nature, into happiness,

and into ourselves - we find what was inside us all along:

peace, passion, perception and a wild soul

My work

Podcasts
I am co-host of two podcasts: Beneath the Stream, exploring the human experience in the non-human world; plus the forthcoming, Rarely Invited, sitting with contemporary artists in their studios to hear the stories, inspirations and journeys behind their work. I feature on other podcasts and am a sometime contributor on nature and culture on BBC Radios 3 & 4.

Writing
Currently in production is my new book, Wild Soul; 7 steps to get back to yourself and your world, a seven week, step-by-step exploration of ways into Nature, into happiness, and into ourselves; going outside, to reclaim what was always inside.
